LinearTo be linear is to be accordingly, no variations everything based on one line. To be non linear is the appearance of things relative to one another as determined by their distance from the viewer. In the video "Digital Text" it explains how text is changing, "evolving". It is nonlinear. It's often linear on paper but as digits, content is different. Digital text is flexible, it has no limits and if there were limits those limits would be at a broaden horizon. The video shows the change within the text we express now, compared to what we were used to. Now with digital text I can be virtually anywhere and everywhere, yet still be here and stay here. Digital text changes more then just the expression of the individual but it changes the expression of us all, down to how we present stuff. In the video the presentation of the topic is fast. It's everywhere digitally linked to links to go here and there, virtually anywhere. It covers more ground on a digital non linear surface. At first the video starts off on paper and pencil, then erasing the text is included. The paper and pencil is then transferred into digital text typing, no longer using writing utensils and paper. It then leads to hypertext allowing to link to different locations, linking to the internet. Now we are linking to different sites, altering its page source, no longer on a linear panel. Digital text is different, altering the text in content and not as form. Form is the layout, the "how", the landscape, the base in which the content lies within. Form and content were inseparable, Digital text can do better, it can separate the two. Access to the content alone allows for the data to be exported, free of formatting constraints. With Form separated from content, I don't need complicated code to upload content to the web. I can upload videos, text, data, documents, photos, virtually anything. This allows me to be in control the individual user. The individual user organizes the data, I teach the machine therefore I am in control. Writing is evolving to no longer being one, but a collaboration with others. As the video says we have to rethink such things as copyright, and authorship with access to the content separate from form the altering possibilities are endless. The web's content is made by all of us not just by one individual, access is just a cut, copy & paste away. Through digits "the impossible" cease to exist, possible becomes infinite. Mostly everything that we do today has been reached by the digital world to further advance it, to change. Most of what we do today is different using technology to make it easier or help you understand more. The process of data is expanded through a higher rate. Yet schools are still being handled in a traditional manner, schools have yet to be rethought. The content within our consumption as those learning or teaching change, they variate to adapt institutions to changing patterns. Changing patterns in a much wider spectra of writing, thinking, subjects, schedules, learning and teaching. The world of today is technological, we use the tools and skills we've learned and become pioneers. We use the technology we have access of to express and connect, to collaborate and consume more much faster. If we were to combine the digital world we use out of school and transfer it to rethink schools, more can be accomplished. We further develop our skills, we put them to practice and as time goes by our capacity expands. We learn to change, to change how we learn, to make it better, cover more ground to reach boundless possibilities. In these two videos If walls could talk , Learning to change, Changing to learn it shows that students learn, read, and write way more outside of school then in it. A student's outside of school life is advancing, yet school is still the same traditional way. Of course there have been some changes for example tools such as computers, and smart boards. Though the electronics we use in everyday life such as the music we listen to or the instant or text or email messages we send to communicate, all banned from school. I don't mean that schools should be more technologically advance but to make learning anything and everything possible. To use different methods of teaching and getting the teachers point across, we need to rethink schools. Imagine how much more can be accomplished if school was evolved.
